An Illustrated Journey!

I feel honored, thankful, and so, so, SO blessed to be one of the 40 artists Danny Gregory asked to be featured in his new book An Illustrated Journey. (available now, actually the first publication has sold out and they are into the 2nd publication already!)

It was a thrill to meet Danny face to face via Skype (well kind of face to face, but you know what I mean) and to have a long conversation with him. Danny was just as I thought he would be... down to earth, kind, humble, and oh so sweet. Though I'm afraid the entire recorded section of the "interview" I sounded like a dork, *sigh*. Still wish he or I lived closer, I'd love to go out sketching with him for a day or weekend!

Danny Gregory has been posting interviews with the artists on his website. It is an awesome experience to see, hear, and learn about the contributing artists. I'm looking forward to watching the interviews of many long time on-line friends. Order your book today and follow along with us!

Congratulations on being in the book! I enjoyed reading your essay in the book, and I took notes! Notes like how you "punch up the color" using Prismacolor colored pencils (I'll have to try that), and about your own coptic-bound books(I have made one myself and plan to make more). I felt very reassured that you have multiple sketchbooks going, because I seem to keep gravitating to that too, as much as I'd like to be like other people and just keep one book going.

:) Thank you Stacy! Yes, I am in the process of starting a new book. I have recently discovered that each book has it's own personality and I can't force my different styles into just one book. Do what feels right for you!

I just finished viewing the interview and really enjoyed hearing about your sketching and journaling experience. I've been poring over the book and especially like your sketches of Seattle (where I live). Congrats!

Thank you Lynn, Tina and Connie :)

Tina: There are many more from Seattle that didn't make it into the book. I think if you browse through my blog you will see them. I do love sketching in your city! :)

Connie: Send me your email address and I'll let you know when I'll be teaching here in Boise. I actually have one this weekend, The Savage Mirror. Nor sure if you'll have time to pull all the supplies together for that one. But I'll be teaching it again soon I'm sure. :)

I just listened to the interview! Well done!
I really liked what you said about drawing as opposed to taking pictures.

Hey Lisa just watched your interview with Danny Gregory. (Just found out about him & started reading his Creative LIcense book) Thanks for sharing. I'm a graphic designer too (and have been for many years) and really related to what you said about creating art for "them" & "you" / the difference. I am starting to find my way back to personal art expression lately after leaving behind many other form of expression besides design post college. Love your work & thanks for inspiring!
