Monotype Printmaking workshop

Spent the weekend learning a new monotype printmaking technique. It is a little bit similar to other monotype techniques I've tried in the past, but this one is much more intuitive for me. It could be that it feels more like painting than printmaking. Anyway, I love the process and I love the outcome. The instructor, Vinita Voogd, is a wonderful teacher. So full of tips and hints and step-by-step instructions. I have really learned a lot from her not only about her techniques, but also about printmaking in general. She calls her process the Stacked Monotype, we only used 3 color process inks.

This is my first stab at the process... I am a little bit giddy.

I serendipitously discovered your site when looking for examples of stacking monotypes.

When Vinita returned from the workshop, she mentioned to our class, with delight, the wonderful printmakers and printmaking facilities available in Boise.

I attended a lecture she gave about 7 years ago. I was very impressed and spoke with her after the lecture. I asked that she contact me if she ever taught a printmaking class. I took my first class from her this past spring. All my expectations were met, and then some. Vinita inspires.

In the first class meeting she modestly mentioned she had been invited to exhibit with other printmakers this summer in Portugal. In the 7 year interim from the time I first met her to now, she has become an internationally recognized printmaker. Pretty cool!

Your stacked monotype print is simply awesome! Your imagery is beautiful! Congratulations!
