"hesitations"

Why is it that we hesitate telling others those things that are on our minds and in our hearts. Perhaps I am more guilty of this than most. Most of my life I have built walls around myself, thinking that they would protect me from...hurt, rejection, ridicule, and embarrassment. Unfortunately, all the self inflicted walls have done is prevent me from following dreams, expressing the intense emotions in my heart, made me ask "what if I had only...", and worst of all made me hesitate sharing my true feelings.
